Back Porch
Thrift Store UCM operates a community thrift store called the Back Porch Thrift Store. We provide more than $30,000 in vouchers for people in need. And we have amazing deals on furniture, jewelry, clothing, housewares, and much more. Our thrift store has many roles:

Children
For the next generation, we provide essential education and family support through: Bryant Early Learning Center prepares children for kindergarten and beyond. Read their newsletter Our Healthy Families program prevents child abuse and neglect by providing intensive home visiting services to first time parents. Our Forward Steps program at Creekside Village Community Center and our Computer Learning Center Partnership program at Sacramento Neighborhood Center give children a safe and enriching place to go after school. We encourage connections and leadership among residents of all ages. People are empowered to transform their own communities into safe, enriching environments. We are involved in a community initiative to engage local residents in support of children and their specific needs for academic success. The Mount Vernon Opportunity Neighborhood initiative has already seen residents of one low-income neighborhood take the lead in identifying and providing resources to assist families in need. |
